Потім у спеціальних полях необхідно вказати номер та дату відправлення. Номер відправлення кожна посилка або лист одержують під час реєстрації. При пересиланні відправлення в Німеччині номер складається з 12 цифр.

У випадку міжнародних відправлень, посилкам присвоюється міжнародний номер, що відповідає стандарту Світового Поштового Союзу. Цей номер складається з двох великих букв латинського алфавіту (на початку), 9 цифр і двох великих букв D і E (наприкінці). Перша буква номера залежить від типу відправлення. У випадку з дрібними пакетами на початку номера буде буква R, для посилок вагою від 2 до 20 кг – буква C, для EMS посилок вагою понад 20 кг – буква E. Літери D та E в кінці номера позначають, що поштова служба належить Німеччині. (Deutchland).
